MEET JORGE HERRERA ÁVILA

BACKGROUND

Herrera is a dedicated public servant with a passion for improving our community. As a current city councilmember and a candidate for the upcoming city council position in 2028, Herrera brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the table.

Jorge holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science with an emphasis in Pre-law from Cal State LA. With over 11 years of experience in customer service at SoCalGas and his past role as a Municipal Manager for Republic Services, one of the largest waste companies in the United States, Jorge interacts daily with union employees, residents, and city leaders. This experience has equipped him with the skills needed to address the challenges our community faces.

Jorge and his wife, Ting Xie, just had their first child, a daughter, in September 2024. This milestone fuels Jorge's dedication to creating a safer place for everyone to grow and thrive happily, ensuring a bright future for his daughter and all children in San Gabriel.
